Kids Ministry

At Duncan CRC our kids experience safe, age-appropriate environments where they learn more about Jesus in a creative and relevant way. We practice a “safe church policy” (PDF) seeking to do our very best to keep children from all possible harm.

Sunday

Nursery (Age 0-5)

In our nursery you can leave your child with our volunteers and they will enjoy a safe space where they can play and interact with the other children.

Sunday School (Age 5 – Grade 5)

For ages 5 to grade 5 we offer Sunday School classes which take place during the service.

Part way through the service, the pastor will invite the kids to the front (if they’re comfortable) to listen to a brief story or prayer. The kids then follow their teachers to the classroom where they sing a few songs. The kids then follow an age appropriate bible lesson and craft. The kids will return to sit with their parents during the last couple songs of the service.

AREA68 (Grade 6-8)

On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, when the other kids are dismissed, the kids grade 6-8 are also sent to their time of teaching. This is a space led by caring leaders, to help them understand their identity in Jesus, to be invested in by adults who care and support them, to help bridge sunday school to full participation in sanctuary and to help lead kids to affirmation of faith and membership.

During The Week

GEMS – Girls Everywhere Meeting The Saviour – For girls from grades 2 – 6, meeting together for devotions, songs, dance, theme badge, bible work and crafts.

Cadets – For boys grade 3-7, meeting for bible study, badge work, crafts and special activities.

Youth Jam – With Youth Jam, our heart is for students to hone their skills and crafts in music, to develop their God given gifts in music.  This will be done by practically playing through worship songs on the church stage with mentors in place to help guide students musically. We also desire for students to gain an understanding of God’s heart for worship.  We want students to know why we lead worship on Sundays, the different elements of a Sunday service, and how worship on Sunday is to carry on throughout the week.
